What electric tape dispensers are used for
Wherever a workstation needs pieces of tape of the same length again and again, measuring and cutting by hand costs time and gives uneven results. An electric tape dispenser cuts the tape to the set length, usually to ±1 mm, and feeds the next piece as soon as the previous one is taken. Hands stay free for the workpiece, waste drops and every piece is the same length.
START International has been building these units for more than 40 years. The dispensers are designed for continuous industrial use and for tapes that simple table dispensers cannot handle: high-tack foam and VHB™ tapes, delicate protective films, thin polyimide tapes or double-sided tapes with a release liner.
How to choose the right model
- Tape width: the ZCM series handles up to 51 mm, the TDA060 up to 60 mm, the TDA080 up to 80 mm and the TDA150 up to 150 mm. For tapes from 3 mm there is the ZCM1000B.
- Material: VHB™ and foam need non-stick rollers (NS), protective film needs non-marking rollers (NM), Kapton® needs a creaser (K), glass cloth needs the C version.
- Cut length: ZCM units cut up to 999 mm, TDA units up to 9,999 mm. For very short pieces from 5 mm there is the ZCM1000D.
- Way of working: models with memory for changing lengths, the TDA025B carousel for several operators, the ZCM1100 safety guard head for strict safety requirements.
- Liner: double-sided tapes with release paper are handled by the TDA080-LR, the TDA080-NS-LR or an add-on liner remover.

Why START
ZCM series units are made in Japan and have a steel frame with a flame-retardant, anti-static housing. The TDA series is all-metal. The 230 V versions for Europe carry the CE mark. Spare parts such as blades, rollers and core holders remain available for years.
