Standard dispensers impose a technical floor of 20 mm minimum cut length — a limitation that simply cannot be accommodated in these applications. START International engineered the ZCM1000D to overcome exactly this barrier: a purpose-built custom circuit board unlocks cut lengths down to 5 mm, without any compromise on precision, automation level, or operational reliability.
Custom Circuit Board – Engineering for Micro-Length Applications
The defining feature of the ZCM1000D is its specially developed control board, which extends the programmable length range down to 5 mm (0.2") — well below the physical limit of any standard ZCM1000-series machine. The full upper range of 999 mm is retained without restriction. This makes the ZCM1000D the most versatile model in the ZCM1000 family in terms of lower cut length capability, covering a dispensing range that no other standard machine in this class can match.
Operating Note: Photocell and Tweezers
At piece lengths of 5 mm, a physical limitation applies: the integrated photocell cannot reliably detect pieces of this size. For these micro-length pieces, removal should be performed using tweezers. From approximately 20 mm upwards, the photocell auto-feed operates fully and without restriction. Manual push-button actuation is available for all lengths at any time. This characteristic is not a defect — it is a physically determined property of photosensor technology at this scale, and is clearly documented by START International to ensure correct application.
Repeatable Precision Across the Full Range
The desired cut length is programmed once on the digital LED panel and stored permanently in memory. The guillotine cutting mechanism delivers a straight, clean cut edge at a repeatability of ±1 mm (material-dependent) across the entire range from 5 to 999 mm. Tape widths from 7 to 51 mm are processed. The included 3-in-1 core holder accepts core diameters of 25 mm, 35 mm, and 76 mm — interchangeable without tools.
